Dupont Fabros Offices
The project is located on the 6th floor of a premium Class A office building near the sought-after Federal Triangle, directly across from the old FBI building in Washington, DC. It is surrounded by a vibrant commercial, entertainment, and retail district, with dramatic views overlooking the Department of Justice and Pennsylvania Avenue afforded to the interior spaces throughout the office suite.
The program of requirements was developed from staff interviews, work-flow optimization studies, and tours of the client’s existing offices and workspaces. Thorough assessment of needs and corporate culture, DFT went with our recommendation of a balance of private and open office solution, which allowed a greater degree of access to natural light and views through the combination of open office and glass walled conference and teaming rooms.
To achieve maximum energy efficiency dimmable LED fixtures replaced existing fluorescents to render daylight temperature. This matched the input of natural light and retained consistent color rendition that compliments/supplements daylight diffusions through large perimeter windows.
Our design team went the extra mile to blend the client’s brand and cultural trends through the custom design of the main reception desk and a sculptural art feature wall with an integrated light theme that symbolized the client’s product line and logo.
While perimeter offices enjoyed prime view and daylight, the open workspace was equally celebrated with exposed deck and suspended knife-edged “clouds” to create a more open feel also allowing all staff to enjoy maximum daylight exposure and premium views.
